While it's probably not something you want in your living room, the CordWrap outlet faceplate keeps long cords off the floor and from being accidentally pulled out of the wall. Fit for garages or workshops, the CordWrap doesn't seem to be for sale, but DIYers could easily put one together. It's simply a regular outlet faceplate with protruding ends. All platforms with Thunderbird: The gContactSync add-on synchronizes your contacts between Gmail and Thunderbird's address book. While gContactSync syncs email addresses without a hitch, it is a little fussier about the formatting of the street address fields. If you're a Thunderbird power user with a large set of Gmail contacts to import and synchronize, it's definitely worth the inconvenience of tweaking your Gmail contacts. Fortunately there's a video walk-through available to guide you through the needed tweaks, when you go to the download page at mozdev.org, a link to the flash tutorial is on the right hand side of the screen. gContactSync is a free download and works with Thunderbird. gCon

The Official Gmail Blog runs down how to customize your web clips (or turn them off). A 502 server error prevented Gmail and Google Apps users from accessing their accounts for about 15 hours. The error, associated with servers that have to deal with too many connections, disappeared after the number of people who tried to access a specific location decreased. In this particular case, it took Google engineers over half a day until they managed to solve the problem generated by a server congestion.

Yahoo! announced today that its application, Zimbra Desktop, which was launched last month, would be available for the Linux platform.
