Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA on February 1, 1976. He then moved to
Roselle, New Jersey when he was 3 months old. Phil was introduced to the
wonderful game of poker at the young age of eight by his grandfather. Phil and
his grandfather would play five-card stud, but his grandfather would cheat to
show Phil the dangerous events that could occur in a simple game of Poker. This
introduction to poker by Phil's grandfather is what got him very interested in
poker. As a teenager, Phil would tell family and friends that one day his dreams
will come true, and he will become a professional Gambler. Before Phil had
started his poker career, he worked as a telemarketer.
